IT MATTERS! Listen, all the little tedious mundane things we do in our kitchens, and in our homes MATTER!
It is humbling, and I think that contributes to believing the lie that its trivial or insignificant. But our days caring for children are made up of endless tiny moments and events. Those tiny events and happenings however, are NOT inconsequential. They are making and shaping our children, they are sharpening and molding our own character and hearts. Changing diapers, sweeping dirt, and cleaning toilets actually MATTERS.
Our time spent caring for our home and family may feel small at times, but every tiny issue we combat and mess we tackle, is contributing to the atmosphere of our home and the sharpening of our children's characters.
Reflecting on myself over the years I realized that I used to reply with what I "did" with minimal confidence. The insecurity has shed and I have found deep confidence, beauty and even conviction in the extreme importance of my role. However, my heart is burdened knowing so many women feel belittled for "just" being a "mom".
YOU ARE SO MUCH MORE.
You are creating and cultivating the environment for your children to thrive and grow into confident , capable adults. You are modeling how to care for, and steward the home - including ALL things the Lord blesses you with.
EVERYTHING we do in our home , our children see. They are watching, dry sponges soaking in everything little thing. Maybe on the surface our pride takes a hit and that's why some lack confidence in our role as "homemaker". There's not a big number paycheck attached to that title, and for many, they see no education or great accomplishment behind it.
But in the humble name given to us homemakers, we should take great pride. The health and nourishment of our children physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally falls greatly on us. WHAT an HONOR to be entrusted by the Lord God Almighty with this role. We set the environment on which our family daily lives, either thriving or withering. We set the standard for care and nutrition, responsibility , self discipline, diligence and so much more.
All my tiny moments in our Little Kitchen, prepping the food that will nourish my family at our Big Table, are divine and known by the Maker of heaven and earth. Every little baby spoon washed, and onion chopped MATTERS.
Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially, to those who are of the household of faith.
